Militant arrested

SILCHAR, Sept 13: One Abdul Rakib (26) was arrested by the 11 Field Regiment (Red Shield Division) from Longkhow (Chiripar) recently. The militant is a resident of Khergao at Mamang Leikai in Imphal. The Army recovered a 7.62 mm revolver, five extortion notes of PULF (Azad group) and one rubber stamp of the PULF Finance Secretary, from the militant. According to sources from the Army, Abdul underwent training from the terrorist outfit PULF in 2006. He was handed over to Lakhipur Police by the Army following his arrest. The arrested militant had sneaked in the Cachar area to collect taxes from the local residents. According to sources, Abdul Rakib was also arrested by the Manipur Police in 2007 and put under imprisonment for five months in Imphal jail on the charges of keeping association with PULF, the Manipur-based terrorist outfit.
