‘AUDF not a poll factor’, Assam Election

Assam Election
CORRESPONDENT
BONGAIGAON, April 8 – “With the symbol of ‘Hand’ our party conveys the message of ‘development’ and ‘solidarity’ among the electorates of No 6 Barpeta LS constituency. Realising our message, people of this constituency will certainly support us” APCC General Secretary and spokesperson Ranjan Borah told a press conference here yesterday.

He firmly denied AUDF party as poll factor in Barpeta LS constituency. In this LS poll, his party candidate Ismail Hussain would get more votes than the last polls.

Borah added that his party would enjoy full support of Koch Rajbongshi despite AKRSU’s probable non-cooperation.

The spokesperson stated that although one or two blasts rocked the state, the LS polls would be conducted peacefully.

Regarding departed Congress MP of Barpeta constituency A F Golam Osmani, Borah expressed negative views. He said late Osmani supported AICC President Sonia Gandhi at the Centre but the MP played anti-Congress role in the State.

Hence party leaders did not offer condolences for late Osmani’s death in poll rallies of Congress party, he added.

Before concluding the press conference, Borah levelled allegation against AUDF party for its tacit understanding with AGP and BJP. ASSAM TRIBUNE
