Congress to find going tough:CPM leader

Correspondent
PATACHARKUCHI, April 8 – The strength of the Congress party is decreasing day by day with the supporting parties in the UPA government withdrawing support from them. In the ensuing polls they will hardly be able to win hundred seats and will not be able to form a government at any cost, speculated CPM leader Manoranjan Talukdar at an election rally held at Bajali HS School, Pathsala on April 5.

He said that both governments, UPA and NDA formed under the leadership of Congress and BJP respectively failed to fulfil the hopes of the general section of people. So they will be thrown out by the verdict of the common people in the ensuing polls and a third front will form the government at the Centre this time.

He claimed that the third front alone will be able to bring socio-economic change among farmers, labourers and the general masses. Further, he lashed out at the AGP and BJP quoting previous experiences of the NDA and UPA governments and their negligent attitude towards the people of Assam. The rally was presided over by Dharani Sarma.

Addressing the meeting, the contesting candidate from Barpeta HPC, Durge Deka urged the people to cast their valuable votes in favour of CPM for the interest of development of the general section of people.

The rally was attended by former Rajya Sabha member of West Bengal and senior labour leader Dipankar Mukherjee in his speech asked the people what had been done by BJP or AGP and the Congress for the development of the people of the State. He termed the Congress, BJP and AGP as betrayers. In this election people wanted change and were thinking about alternatives. In this regard a discussion is also going on throughout the country among the parties which have principles.

So, forming a third front government at the Centre is almost sure, he added. Udhab Barman, ex-MP and Suprakash Talukdar, editor of Ganasakti also spoke at the rally. Besides this, the party was gearing up its poll campaign in various places under Patacharkuchi LAC. ASSAM TRIBUNE
