Christmas celebrated in Itanagar

ITANAGAR, Dec 25: The Christian brethrens celebrated Christmas today, the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God and the savior of all people, with great enthusiasm and religious fervour.

Churches in the capital complex, of all denominations wore festive look. At Nyokum Lapang, the Town Baptist Church, devotees thronged the church since early morning to offer special prayers for peace, harmony and prosperity and good health.  Sermons and invocation of biblical chants reverberated in the air. Children, men and women of all ages congregated at the Church to listen to sermons by Dojeng Panggam and Norbu Lama, on the theme, ‘In the sight of all people’:Luke2: 31.

Believers of the Catholic denomination gathered at the Catholic Church in Daying Ering Colony, Itanagar to offer prayers for universal peace, harmony and brotherhood on the auspicious occasion. Special pandals depicting the birth of Jesus Christ attracted hundreds of believers, while kids thronged the altar to get a glimpse of baby Jesus. Devotees hoped the occasion would usher in an era of universal goodwill and love, promoting peace and brotherhood among all the people cutting across caste, creed and gender differences.
Community feasts were also on offer to mark the day. Meanwhile, reports of celebration of Christmas are pouring in from the across the State.

 Joining the celebrations Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu spent the day with 80 students of VKV Nirjuli here at his official residence. Distributing sweets and having an interactive session with the students, the Chief Minister conveyed the Christmas message of peace and unity.
