Water scarcity hits Silchar wards as PHE tank breaks

SILCHAR, Oct 24: The five wards in Silchar, Ward No. 1,2,3,7 and 8, were hit with water scarcity as the PHE water supply tank in Lakhipur area suddenly broke. The tank was constructed in 1997.

An emergency meeting was called by SDO(C) Barenya Das to sort out a solution to the problem. The meeting was attended by PHE (SDO) Tapash Paul and vice chairman of Lakhipur Municipality Ashok Kumar Lunayat, sources said.

The SDO(C) also asked the BRTF to provide water to the five wards under Lakhipur Municipality board. The sources added that the leaking water tank was being repaired. It is expected that the repairing work of the PHE water supply tank would be completed by next Monday. THE SENTINEL

Stolen bike recovered

SILCHAR, Oct 24: One Sabir Hussain (21) was caught red-handed while he was trying to sell a stolen motorcycle near the Dewan Tea estate today. Sources said Hussain had stolen the motorcycle from Fulertal, Marqulin area in Lakhipur on Wednesday.

It was also reported that the motorcycle belonged to one Emsalon Buhril. During interrogation, it was revealed that Hussain also belonged to Fulertal area from where he had stolen the motorcycle. THE SENTINEL
