Meeting for holding safe Deepawali held

SILCHAR, Oct 12: A meeting was held at the Lakhipur Police Station premises in view of the ensuing Deepawali festival. The meeting was held to check influence of wine, violence, gambling etc. during the festival. It is to be mentioned that the Lakhipur subdivision of Cachar district borders Manipur and anti social activities were high here for the last few years.

The meeting was held between Police Personnel and the village defence party secretaries of the area. At least 73 village defence party secretaries out of 191 participated in the meeting within the Lakhipur Police Station area.

The meeting was presided over by OC Biswajit Purkayastha who advised the VCP secretaries to render proper services in their respective areas during the festival to see that wine, gambling etc. are checked and that the Deepawali festival runs peacefully. THE SENTINEL
