GUWAHATI, Sept 14: Asom and Bangladesh had a detailed discussion on zero line border pillars, change in the border line due to change of course by rivers along the border and some bilateral issues at a meeting at Guwahati today.
According to sources, both sides agreed to demarcate the border line that has been changed due to change in the course of the Kushiara river afresh, erecting new border pillars on the zero line where the old pillars were either washed away or destroyed etc. The two parties will exchange their documents on September 16 on the agreements reached between them.
While the Asom team was led by Border Director Iftekhar Hussain, the four-member Bangladesh team was led by Border Director General Dr Alam. The meeting was held as part of the Indira-Mujib Agreement, 1974. The meeting had no discussion on issues like lands under adverse possession with Asom and Bangladesh as such issues can be discussed with New Delhi only. THE SENTINEL
