GUWAHATI, Aug 27: Startling revelations made by two NDFB cadres who were arrested last night has the kept the police on their toes. Two NDFB cadres — Daimalu Basumatary and Siman Basumatary — who were arrested by Kokrajhar police last night confessed before the police that the action group of the outfit was out to carry out the blueprint that had been prepared by its chief Ranjan Daimary to assassinate Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Basu-matary, MP SK Bwisum-uthiary and BTC executive member Mano Brahma. The two militants have also said that Daimalu was among the five NDFB cadres who had attacked Bwisumuthiary at Panbari in Kokrajhar on April 24 when two persons were killed, said Kokrajhar SP PK Dutta while talking to reporters today. Dutta further said the NDFB cadres confessed the link of some district committees of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) with the outfit.
Meanwhile, two ULFA militants were killed in an encounter with a joint team of police and the Army at Golbil under Barama police station along the Baksa-Nalbari border in the wee hours today. An AK-56 rifle and a pistol were recovered from the slain militants.
In yet another incident, personnel of the Assam Rifles recovered an IED weighing about 15 kg, 200 metres of flexible wire, 100 metres of wire with detonators, 99 gelatin sticks, a grenade and 61 rounds of live ammunition from the premises of an industrial growth centre at Salanibari under Tezpur police station in Sonitpur district this morning.
