LUMDING, Aug 27 – The golden jubilee of Lumding College was celebrated recently with pomp and gaiety. In this connection the 51st foundation day of the college was also observed with a day-long programme, which began with the hoisting of the college flag by Ashoke Kumar Paul, principal in-charge of the college.
A large number of teachers, ex-teachers, students, ex-students and members of the non-teaching staff and a host of respectable citizens of the locality attended the main function. The opening song was sung by the teachers of the college. Chief guest Sushil Kr Dutta, MLA, Lumding constituency lighted the lamp while Maya Chakraborty, president, governing body, Lumding College attending as guest of honour marked the inauguration of the function.
Both the speaker addressed the gathering, inspiring them to work for all-round development of the college and wished the college a bright future.
Ashoke Paul, principal in-charge, Uma Bhowmick, ex-principal, Phanibhusan Saha, ex-student, Adwaita Bhattacharjee, ex-student, Nipa Debnath, student and Pradip Chetia, officer-in-charge, Lumding Police Station, delivered relevant speeches on the occasion.
The function was marked by impressive cultural performances by the students. Semi-classical group dance on the theme of Saraswati bandhana was performed by Debolina Das and party. Solo dance was presented by Bipasa Dey. Solo songs were presented by Surajit Sarkar, Rini Gupta, Pragya Gupta, Sweety Saha (ex-student), Paritosh Das (member of office staff). ASSAM TRIBUNE
