SHILLONG, Aug 3: Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Pradhan has sought Government’s permission to go for two-month leave with effect from today. Sources told this correspondent that Pradhan dispatched the letter to the Chief Minister today seeking leave till October 2. The Government has not taken any decision on the leave application in view of the election code of conduct, but sources said the State Government has written to the Election Commission to endorse the DGP’s leave application. Notwithstanding the DGP’s decision, sources said the political leadership has asked Pradhan to go for a recluse to diffuse the tension emanating from the SCAMoD’s demands for his removal in order to ensure a fair probe into the May 31 jailbreak.
