GUWAHATI, July 14 – The Education Department has chalked out several schemes as part of its 100 Days Action Plan including filling up of vacant posts of teachers in LP/UP/ME/High/ and Higher Secondary schools and regularization of OBB teachers in a fresh manner.
The department has decided to extend financial assistance to non-government educational institutions and complete additional list of non-government educational institutions for financial assistance.
Financial aid will be given to 36 secondary schools which have completed 100 years and above and to 40 secondary schools for their distinguished performance under the Asom Bikash Yojana.
Scholarships will be extended to students from BPL families and special scholarships will be provided to meritorious girl students (secondary education).
A total of 1,50,000 BPL students of LP and UP schools will be provided financial grant of Rs 200 each for purchasing school uniforms. A total of 50,000 girl students of LP/UP/ME schools will be provided reading and writing materials. A special drive for enrolment of 1,99,187 out of school children (OSC) will be conducted and 22 new residential bridge course centres will be opened for these OSC.
The department will also prepare pre-project plan for implementation of Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan, establishment of model schools in each block and girls hostels for SCT/ST and weaker sections.
Around 4000 untrained primary school teachers, middle school teachers and secondary teachers will be trained and 9123 untrained teachers at elementary level will also be covered by distance mode of training under Indira Gandhi Open University. SOURCE: ASSAM TRIBUNE
