58 file papers in Jorhat

JORHAT, July 14 – A total number of 58 candidates filed their nominations for the ensuing civic polls for 19 wards under Jorhat Municipality Board on Monday. Among them, Indian National Congress has offered candidature for the 19 seats. On the other hand, AGP and BJP will be contesting 13 and 5 seats respectively. The rest of the 21 are independent candidates. Thirty-two candidates out of 58 are male and 26 are female.

For the Teok Town Committee, 13 candidates have filed nomination papers for four town committee seats. Among these, there are 4 Congress, 3 AGP and 1 BJP and 5 independent candidates.

Thus, for the Titabor Town Committee polls 41 candidates filed their nominations for 8 town committee seats of which there are 8 Congress, 8 AGP, 4 CPI, 1CPM and 20 independent candidates.

On the other hand, for 5 town committee seats for Mariani town committee, Congress has offered 5 candidates, BJP 2 and AGP 3. Nine others are independent candidates. SOURCE: ASSAM TRIBUNE
