NALBARI, April 20 – Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary has said that the BPF which has feilded candidates in two seats – one at Kokrajhar and another at Mangaldoi is all set to win both of them where polling is scheduled in the 2nd phase on April 23.
Addressing a massive election rally at Nalbari town on Sunday Daimary said that in Kokrajhar HPC, BPF candidate SK Bwismuthia who has won the seat for the last three consequative terms will win again by a big margin. According to him, there is no candidate at Kokrajhar to compete against him.
Referring to the Mangaldoi parliamentary seat where BPF’s partner Congress candidate Madhav Rajbangshi is also contesting Daimari asserted that the BPF will win the seat in a triangular contest. Elaborating upon the winning prospects of BPF candidate Dina Nath Das, he said that there are 6.30 lakh voters in the BTAD areas under the Mangaldoi HPC. The BPF leader calculated that of this votes 80 per cent will be polled and 60 per cent of these votes will go in favour of the BPF candidate. In addition to these sure votes, the party which has opened offices and organised the people at Nalbari, Rangia, Kamalpur, Sipajhar, Mangaldoi and Dalgaon LACs will get about 40,000 additional votes. In a triangular contest, this number is enough for a candidates, victory, he added Daimari further said that in Mangaldoi HPC, the party has four sitting MLAs which is a major strength for the BPF candidate.
The Rajya Sabha MP also said that the common voters in the constituency have expressed willingness to cast their votes in favour of the BPF candidate attracted by the quick development, which has been taking place in the BTAD areas.
Daimary asserted that if the BPF candidates were voted to power, the party would not compromise on developmental issues at the Centre. He alleged that in the last 50 years, no MP from Mangaldoi seat has succeeded in projecting the real picture on the floor of the Parliament.
He said that just before he was elected to the Rajya Sabha, the Central Government had decided to set up 17 central colleges in the country. But no MP from the State demanded one of the central colleges. How the government has decided to set up 15 more Central universities. “We have demanded one of them at the BTAD area. “The government will be compelled to set up the university of Bodoland,” he added. Daimary advocated that only due to fight of BPF MP in Parliament, we are getting the Rs 1,200 crore NH project near Bhutan foothills, railway connectivity with Bhutan among others.
Criticising the Congress MP Madhav Rajbangshi, and BJP MP Narayan Barkataki. Daimari said that the MP’s getting high profile facilities in New Delhi forget the masses of Mangaldoi in particular and the State in general. For their failure, the Congress and AGP-BJP combined has lost the confidence of the voters.
Addressing the meeting the Transport and Rural Development Minister Chandan Brahma expressed his confidence of winning both the seats. Brahma said that voters have come out to support BPF candidate Dina Nath Das for his popular image and for the all-round development of non-BTAD areas in the style of BTAD.
Speaking at the meeting, the MLA of Barama LAC Maneswar Brahma who is monitoring the election campaign of BPF in Nalbari district said that the party expected 10,000 votes from Nalbari LAC. He added that as the BPF candidate is getting support from Sarania, Koch Rajbangshi Sanmilani, Nepali Sangathans the winning possibility of Dina Nath Das is very bright. ASSAM TRIBUNE
