GUWAHATI, April 8 – Altogether 121 candidates are in fray for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls in 11 constituencies of the State, elections to which are scheduled to be held on April 23. Today was the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers and nine persons withdrew their candidature. An official release said that in all 143 candidates filed nominations for the second phase of polls in the State and of them, the nomination papers of 13 were rejected.
The number of contesting candidates in Dhubri constituency is 10, while, three candidates are in fray for Kokrajhar seat, 14 for Barpeta seat, 12 for Guwahati seat, 13 for Mangaldoi, 15 for Tezpur, 13 for Nagaon, eight for each of Kaliabor and Jorhat, 10 for Dibrugarh and 15 candidates for Lakhimpur constituency.
