The term “Navratri” is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning “nine nights.” It is during this period that sees the worship of the female goddess’ particularly Durga or Kali (Goddess of Power), Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth) and Sarsawati (Goddess of wisdom), and their various avatars. The tenth day culminates into Dussera – the day Ram emerged victorious over Ravana.
