Tight security for Durga Pujas
Kolkata (PTI): Tight security measures have been put in place here ahead of the Durga Pujas to prevent any subversive activities with police asking organisers to install security gadgets in 25 major puja pandals.

"All pujas, particularly the major ones have been requested to install close circuit television cameras to monitor movement of the people," Home Secretary Asok Mohan Chakraborty said.
Hand held metal detectors, emergency exits and electronic information boards have been made mandatory and the organisers have also been asked to erect watch towers to monitor movements, he said.

"25 major puja pandals have been identified and organisers have been asked to install security gadgets and coordinate with police to guard against subversive activities," he said.
Volunteers at pandals will be given special training to detect suspcious activity and report to police, he said.

The government have also asked all five state-run hospitals to keep ready 50 beds each for emergencies. The hospitals would be given Rs ten lakh for this, he said.
