NEW DELHI, Sept 24 (PTI): The Indian arm of US aircraft major Boeing Co plans to bid for USD 20 billion (about 80,000 crore) worth defence aircraft orders in India over the next 10 years.
“Our market outlook for India includes bidding for USD 20 billion worth defence aircrafts in the next 10 years,” Boeing India President Ian Thomas told PTI.
The company has bid for the F-18 Super Hornet airplanes as part of the Indian defence contract to purchase 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA).
Boeing is also holding discussions with the Defence Ministry for suppling maritime surveillance aircraft P8I.
In addition to these, the company is also eyeing orders for 1001 commercial airplanes worth over USD 105 billion that India will require over the next 20 years.
“We are also interested in 1001 passenger and freighter aircraft that we estimate India will require over the next 20 years,” Thomas said.
The company is talking to the Tatas for their proposed joint venture company that will make aerospace components.
“We are holding discussions with the Tatas to establish the joint venture company.” Thomas said.
