GUWAHATI, Nov 7 – ULFA today gave a call for a 12-hour Assam bandh from 6 a m of November 9 in protest against the alleged abduction of its foreign secretary Sasha Choudhury and finance secretary Chitraban Hazarika by the Indian security forces. It has also demanded immediate release of the two leaders.
In an e-mailed statement to the media, ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa said that Sasha and Chitraban were picked up by unidentified gunmen on November 1 and they are traceless since then. He demanded that they should be presented before the media.
The ULFA chairman, in his statement, further alleged that instead of trying to resolve the issues through dialogue, the Indian Government has been hatching conspiracies to attack ULFA leaders both inside and outside the country. ASSAM TRIBUNE
