AGP to talk to regional parties

GUWAHATI, Nov 18: In its first steering committee meeting after the debacle in the recently held by-polls in the State, the AGP has today decided to talk to regional forces and various organizations of the ethnic groups of the State for an alternative political alignment. The party, however, has not taken any decision to sever its ties with the BJP though many leaders raised such a voice in today’s meeting. The meeting has also given the responsibility to call a meeting of all parties of the State, barring the Congress, to party president Chandra Mohan Patowary. According to a decision taken by the meeting, all regional and district committees of the party will hold rallies in protest against the hike in prices of essential commodities and submit memoranda to the Chief Minister. The party condemned the ongoing killings in the BTAD and criticized the State Government for its failure to bring law and order under control in the autonomous districts. THE SENTINEL
