CSIR Diamond Jubilee Research Interns Awards
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invites young and meritorious Indian nationals who are creative, have a passion and desire to pursue R & D related to Science and Technology for selection as Research Interns at its various divisions. The internship is meant to be preparatory phase for the young interns in imbibing the spirit of enquiry and learning the tools and techniques of managing issues related to R & D through participation and doing. Division-wise activities, number of positions, eligibility criteria and other requirements are given below:
1) Intellectual Property Management Division (IPMD), Delhi
The mandate of IPMD is to look after the national and the international protection of IP generated at the constituent labs/institutes of CSIR. The division also helps the laboratories in portfolio formation, valuation, licensing and contracting
Position code: DJIA/IPMD No of positions: 06 (six) 4 for basic science and 2 for IT/Computer Science
Essential qualification: Minimum 60% marks in M.Sc./BE/ B. Tech. in Biotechnology/bioinformatics/molecular biology /plant sciences/Physics/Electrical Engineering/Electronics Engg./ Organic Chemistry/Polymer Science; BE/ B. Tech. or equivalent in IT/Computer Science
Desirable/additional skills (common for all posts): Analytical, comprehension and writing skills Working knowledge of DBMS like My SQL, MS SQL, and programming languages like Visual Basic, PHP, ASP, etc. Experience in IP related matters will be preferred. Job requirement: Selected interns would be required to assist the scientists in various assignments related to IP management. Selected candidates will be given an opportunity to have necessary hands-on training in the area of IP management.
2) Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) , Ghaziabad (UP)
HRDC is the state-of-art central training establishment of CSIR which is actively engaged in holistic human resource development of its personnel. The focus of its activities / programmes is on training to upgrade the existing skills and adding newer skills with an eye on meeting the future needs of the organization. The selected Interns would get the opportunity to work in the area of development of Management Information Systems, web based applications and HR Development activities.
Position code: DJIA/HRDC No of positions: 02 (two)
Essential qualification: M.Sc/ BE/ B.Tech or equivalent in IT/Computer Science.
Desirable: MBA (HR) or equivalent from any reputed management institution with working knowledge of DBMS like MySQL, MS SQL, and programming languages like VB, PHP, ASP, etc. Experience in human resource development related activities. Job requirement: Selected interns would be expected to work on design and development of MIS and web based applications and assist in HR Development activities.
3) Recruitment and Assessment Board (RAB), Delhi
RAB is engaged in conducting assessment and recruitment of scientists for CSIR labs. RAB maintains large amount of data related to CSIR scientists and experts. The selected Interns would get an opportunity to learn various techniques for the development of DBMS and apply their software development knowledge for developing dedicated application software for live applications.

Essential qualification: M.Sc./BE/ B. Tech. in Computer Science/IT or MCA
Desirable: Working knowledge of DBMS like MS SQL/Oracle and programming languages like Visual Basic/ASP/C++/PHP, MySQL, Linux and Applications.
Job requirement: Selected interns would develop DBMS Application Software
4) International Science and Technology Affairs Division (ISTAD), Delhi
ISTAD spearheads CSIR’s linkages with international agencies for carrying out collaborative and contract research in frontier areas of science and technology. ISTAD plays a pivotal role in identifying and nurturing CSIR’s global partnerships in cutting edge areas of research and development. ISTAD is developing long term plans and programmes for global partnerships in identified sect oral groups of CSIR cutting across the scientific strength of its 37 national laboratories.
Position code: DJIA/ISTAD No of positions: 03 (three)
Essential qualification: M.Sc./BE/B.Tech. or equivalent in natural science with exposure on DBMS like MySQL, MS SQL and programming languages like Visual Basic, JSP, ASP.net etc. or M.Sc./BE/B.Tech. in Computer Science/IT or MCA.
Desirable: Working knowledge of DBMS and programming languages like Visual Basic, JSP, ASP.net, etc. Candidates should also possess sharp absorptive and analytical skills and should be able to articulate detailed project proposals for multi-institutional cooperation.
Job requirement: The job would require considerable interaction with scientists to assess the impact of major initiatives of technological cooperation of CSIR and would involve design and development of dynamic web pages, database management, extensive internet and library searches, preparation of S&T reports etc.
5) Human Resource Development Group (HRDG), Delhi
Various programmes and activities of the Group relate to Identifying budding talent having aptitude and aspirations to work for the generation of new knowledge and technology; Funding of extra mural research; Development of S&T manpower; Nurturing young talents; Promoting excellence through awards and honors; and Encouraging interaction among scientists. These programmes cover a wide range of S&T disciplines and age groups (16 years to 65 years) and are undertaken through a true Team India partnership i.e., with active involvement and participation of eminent scientists and experts from academia, industrial R&D units, S&T departments, etc. Position code: DJIA/HRDG No of positions: 04 (four)
Essential qualification: MSc in basic sciences/ M Sc/BE/B Tech in Computer Sciences/Computer Engg./ IT or MCA.
Desirable: Candidates should possess sharp absorptive and analytical skills and should be able to use computer extensively. Job requirement: Selected interns would be expected to work on design and development of information systems.
6) Director General Technical Cell, CSIR, Rafi Marg, New Delhi
Essential qualification: 1) Post graduate in Science, , 2) Chemistry post graduate with chemo-informatics skills, Bio-informatics background
Position code: DJIA/DGTC No of positions: 03 (three)
Desirable: Good writing skills, published article on popular science. Candidates should have IT background preferably have management experience, proficient in Open Office/MS power point etc.
Job requirement: Selected interns would be expected to work for programme management, multimedia for scientific presentations, web based information management, Scientometric studies and Technical report generation.
General conditions for all the above positions
(i) Eligibility: 1st class or equivalent GPA in the above mentioned degree examinations.
(ii) Max. Age: 25 years as on 28th May 2010 (Relaxation up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/OBC, Physically Handicapped and Female candidates).
(iii) Stipend: Rs.11500/- per month (fixed) under revision
(iv) Tenure: Maximum two years from the date of joining and is not extendable under any circumstances. Performance of the interns will be reviewed every six months. In case the performance is not satisfactory, the internship will be terminated with one month′s notice or one month′s stipend in lieu thereof. During the internship period the intern would be free to appear for NET/GATE and secure regular fellowship for doing Ph.D.
(v) Selection will be based on overall academic records and performance in the interview.
(vi) TA/ DA will not be paid for attending the interview.
