ISWS fellowship to AAU scientist

JORHAT, March 3: Dr Dipjyoti Rajkhowa, Professor of Agronomy, Assam Agriculture University (AAU), Jorhat has been awarded the Indian Society of Weed Science (ISWS) fellowship for the year 2009-10. The award has been conferred on Dr Rajkhowa in recognition of his remarkable contribution in the development of weed management technologies of different crops, notably on rice-based cropping system. He has popularized herbicide use in different crops of the State as a component of integrated weed management. He has also developed the management practices for some problematic weeds of Northeast India. His contribution to safe agricultural practices in the region by efficient utilization of weed biomass for vermi-compost production is significant. Dr Rajkhowa has been instrumental in organizing activities to create awareness of weed control technology amongst the farming community of the State. This apart, he has also published 60 research papers, 45 articles, one book and lots more on weed management and utilization of biomass. THE SENTINEL
