West Kameng on toes for election

BOMDILA, Oct 3: Bomdila Election Officer-cum-Returning Officer Swati Sharma gave details of the preparedness on the Assembly elections slated for October 13 in an interview with Doordarshan here. According to a press release, besides imparting hands-on training on the operation of electronic voting machines (EVMs), training on non-EVM aspects is also being given due importance, she said. In order to thwart any sort of mischief and foul play, she gave a detailed account of security arrangements being made for the successful conduct of the poll. Of the 150 polling stations in the four Assembly constituencies of the district, 14 polling stations have been identified as critical, 32 as hyper sensitive, 31 as sensitive and 73 as normal. The communication plan; a vital component for the successful conduct of the poll day, has also been reviewed, she stated. A team of officers have been appointed as nodal officers to look after the security aspects, for monitoring the model code of conduct violations, district communication plan, arrangement of vehicles for movement of men and materials, EVM preparations, monitoring of candidates election expenditure, despatch of polling materials, media cell, poll day arrangements and for postal ballot papers, she added.

Besides two Central Observers, 35 micro observers and 36 sector magistrates have been listed for the 150 polling stations of the district having 48,406 voters. The polling stations at 1,300 chain camp under 5-Kalaktang and Upper Bhalukpong under 6-Thrizino-Buragoan Assembly Constituencies have the lowest and highest numbers of voters with four and 1,670 electors respectively. Appeal for clean elections

: ITANAGAR, Oct 3: At a time when politics in Arunachal Pradesh is marred with money power, the appeal by the Capital Complex Yachuli Area Welfare Association (CCYAWA) has come as a refreshing change.


In a statement today, the Association appealed to the voters of Yachuli Assembly constituency not to get influenced by money but use conscience to vote for the right candidate. The Association also appealed the contesting candidates not to practice money power to lure electorates. Incidentally, there are three candidates on fray from the said constituency. THE SENTINEL
