NALBARI/GUWAHATI, Oct 8: Bodo Women’s Justice Forum (BWJF) president and Barama College lecturer Anjali Daimary had a narrow escape today when two motorcycle-borne youths fired at her in front of Barama College.
According to sources, when Daimary was about to return home from college along with two others at 1.45 pm in her car, two motorcycle-borne youths asked the two sitting on the front seat whether Daimary was in the car. When one of the two replied in the positive, the two youths requested Daimary, who was sitting in the rear seat, to come down as they had something important to talk to her. When one of the youths was trying to open the rear door of the car himself, Daimary saw arms in his hands. She immediately locked the door from inside, hid below the seat and asked the driver to speed up the car. The youths fired three rounds that failed to hit the car.
She went to the Nalbari police station and lodged an FIR. The Nalbari police station transferred it to the Barama police station as the incident occurred under the Barama police station.
Daimary said the two youths spoke Bodo language and had a tribal look.
Of late, there has been an altercation between Daimary with the Assam Public Works (APW). APW director Abhijit Sarma was on record asking Daimary to make public what relations she had had with NSCN-IM and NDFB arms supplier Artex Simrey over the years. THE SENTINEL
