Congress dubs Sangma’s claim as hollow

ITANAGAR, Sept 5: Barely a day after the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) General Secretary P A Sangma claimed that his party will play a crucial role in forming the next government in the State, the Congress termed it as hollow.

The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) General Secretary T C Tok said when Sangma himself was waiting eagerly to issue party tickets to applicants from other parties, his statement was self contradictory.

The State has witnessed multifaceted development under the Congress led by Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu during the last two years, with able support from the central leadership, Tok claimed.

The APCC considered Sangma’s claim of anti-incumbency factor affecting the poll prospects of Congress, as an attempt to gain cheap political mileage. Stating that the future of NCP and Sangma himself was uncertain, Tok opined that Sangma had shattered the aspirations of the people of the Northeast by leaving the Congress at a time when he was considered to be a popular leader of the party from the region.
