ISKCON to hold Janmastami Mahotsava from Aug 14

GUWAHATI, Aug 10 – The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Guwahati will organise the annual Sri Sri Krishna Janmastami Mahotsava from August 14 to September 11 at its temple premises in South Sarania, Ulubari, a press release said.

On August 14, the Mahotsava will start with mangal arati followed by darshan arati, bhajan-kirtan, mahamantra chanting, abhishek, mahaabhishek and midnight arati along with prasadam distribution.

Vyasa Puja, which coincides with Nandotsava, will be performed on August 15, the appearance day of Srila Prabhupada, the founder of ISKCON.

On August 16, a special ‘Prerana’ fest for youths will be organised where students will share experiences with ISKCON.

Sri Radhastami will be celebrated on August 27 with abhishek and glorification of Srimati Radharani.

The ISKCON Heritage Fest-2009, which is a series of spiritually inclined Vedic competitions held among school students in connection with the annual celebration of Sri Krishna Janmastami Festival, will start from August 30 at the temple premises.

The Mahotsava will come to an end with the celebration of local Janmastami on September 11. As part of the elaborate security arrangements, devotees will be allowed to enter the temple complex only through the main gate (by the side of Kasturba Ashram). They will not be allowed to carry camera, bags and other objectionable materials within the temple complex on the day of Janmastami on August 14.

Free parking facilities will be arranged at Nehru Stadium and free transportation will be available to and from the temple, the release added. ASSAM TRIBUNE
