Assam Election
GUWAHATI, April 21: AGP vice president Dr Kamala Kalita today said Asom Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma surrendered before the AGP by not being able to prove with evidence the allegations which he had levelled against the regional party within the deadline set.
Talking to newsmen at AGP head office here today, Kalita said: “We did set a deadline of 24 hours for Sarma to prove his allegation that two AGP MLAs had met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and expressed their displeasure over the AGP’s alliance with other parties. We have also asked Sarma to name the killers of PC Ram and Manabendra Sarma within 24 hours, but he failed. This has proved beyond doubt that Sarma levels allegations against others without possessing any substantial evidence with him.”
Kalita, on the other hand, levelled a serious allegation against Asom Forest and Environment Minister Rockybul Hussain that the minister was involved in the killing of journalist Prahlad Goala. “On April 8 this year, Brajen Bora, a witness in the Prahlad Goala murder case, told the court that Hussain was involved in the murder,” he said. Kalita also asked the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress Government in the State to clarify as to why it had given 280 bighas of land to Mr Pithani. THE SENTINEL
