Kolkata restaurants gear up to celebrate Durga puja

Kolkata (PTI): With Durga Puja around the corner, restaurants here have geared up to provide mouth-watering fare to celebrate the advent of the goddess.
Some food joints have come up with special menus for the pujas while some have laid out traditional fare.

Mishra's, a restaurant chain, will have a special menu during the four days of the puja.
"For the last 18 years we are offering special menus during the pujas. That is the way we contribute to the puja spirit," Rajesh Mishra of 'Mishra's said.

Gastronomes can not only look forward to sumptuous lunch and dinner, but will also get five per cent discount on the food bill, he added.

'Bhojohari Manna', a restaurant which serves only Bengali cuisine, will serve typical Bengali fare like shukto, bhaja mugdal, alu phulkopi, rui kalia, jumbo Ilish besides deserts during the festival.
However, there are some restaurants who have decided not to change their menu during the pujas.

Nitin Shivji Kothari who runs 'Peter Cat' and 'Mocambo' on Park Street said people come to 'Mocambo' for continental food and so there is no point in changing the menu.
Similarly, people visited 'Peter Cat' mainly for Indian food. "During the puja, we will continue to offer our special dishes," Kothari said.
