Concrete ramp for Jorhat Puja Immersion Ghat

JORHAT, Oct 4: Jorhat MLA Rana Goswami formally inaugurated the concrete ramp, built at a cost of Rs 11 lakh, at Pujadubi, the immersion ghat on the bank of the Bhogdoi river this evening. In his speech, the Jorhat MLA said that the facility would fulfil a long-standing need of various puja mandaps set up for the Durga Puja festivities.
A public meeting was also held on the occasion, which was chaired by Jorhat Deputy Commissioner LS Changsan. Jorhat Zilla Parishad chairman Putul Buragohain, Jorhat Municipal Board chairman Prasanta Kumar Borah, Additional Deputy Comm-issioner Ranjit Bhattacharyya, president of Jorhat Central Puja Coordination Committee Jagat Chandra Borthakur and PWD officials were present at the meeting. It may be mentioned here that Durga Puja is celebrated at more than 60 puja mandaps in the district. The concrete ramp will ease the immersion activities and facilitate cleanliness and order at the ghat.
