Welcome to Spondon online, a social and cultural organization formed by Bengali community in Windsor, Ontario. The association organizes different social and religious events around the year to keep the community connected. This website will post the news of all events and other activites for our community. So please visit our website to stay informed.

Spondon will celebrate "Sharodio Durga Puja" on October 11, 2008 at Filipino Community Centre.

Spondon has been a virtual organization created by active Bengali community members in Windsor. This community group first marked its existence by starting a Saraswati Puja festival in the year 2002 – and it was a great success with much participation and formidable enthusiasm by the community. Ever since there have been three events a year the Spondon enthusiasts would organize and the response has been simply stated, ‘tremendous’ – year after year. Saraswati Puja (winter), a Summer Picnic and Durga Puja (fall) are the events that take place during the course of the year.

The prime focus had always been to engage in cultural programming and children’s exposure to the Bengali heritage and who can ignore the mention of great Bengali tastes that’s been in the offerings too! Spondon events have been designed to gather up all members of the community to cherish our auspicious occasions and intermingle, all to create a very healthy environment at our home away from home. In the process many new families and University students have been welcomed into this growing family. Everybody’s participation and hard work made this organization a close knit fabric of the Windsor Bengali community. The upcoming events are what all families, children, students look forward to and Spondon enthusiasts have not let the community down. Generally speaking, the existence of Spondon has provided the platform to practice the rich Bengali culture through various expertise and contributions by community members.

Spondon Highlights

Windsor Bengali Community members take much pride and great initiative in managing and preparing for the programs performed on stage by children from 4 years old and up. Drama, Classical Indian Dances, Folk Songs, Instrumentals, Chorus Singing, Recitations, are some of the feature performances that get put together by the children and adults of the Windsor Bengali community. A summer picnic also provides out doors sports of various types for the children while cooking great traditional outdoors Bengali recipes and cherishing each others company sums up a real delight.

That’s what Spondan is about. Fun, excitement, culture, food and laughter.
