Statesman News ServiceRAIGANJ, Oct. 3 : With an objective to inculcate a habit of cleanliness among the councilors and the residents of different wards, Raiganj municipality authorities have decided to give away awards to the ward that maintains cleanliness during Durga puja.Recently the municipality authorities composed three teams of judges involving doctors, social workers, journalists and school teachers who will examine twenty six wards of the municipality. Roads, drains, lights and general awareness among the residents about different schemes of municipality will also be taken into consideration. On the basis of the report placed by the judges the three best wards will be awarded.The chairman of Raiganj municpality Mr Mohit Sengupta said, "The system of providing special grant to the cleanest wards started from last year. After introducing this system the councilors of the concerned wards become more responsible and the residents too became aware of the different schemes of the municipality. The judges this year also requested to place a suggestion to municipality after their survey, regarding the immediate requirements of the the wards. sourcE: the statesman
