Khudiram Basu remembered

CORRESPONDENT SILCHAR, Aug 14 – On the occasion of completion of hundred years of freedom struggle, the contribution of Khudiram Basu was recalled in Silchar town. On the occasion, a programme was organised at Club Road in which floral tributes were paid to the freedom fighter. The programme was presided over by the noted educationist of Valley Prof. Bhakti Madhav Chattopaddaya.In his presidential address, Prof Chattopaddaya said that the contributions of Basu is unforgettable. He is remembered not only in the country but across the world. The main reason behind this was his non compromising attitude and love for his own country. He further said that the basic ideology of the Khudiram was that one can become the citizen of the world if he rises above narrow nationalism.As chief speaker, Chandi Das, executive member of all India celebration committee dwelt on Basu’s courage, ideology and prolific mind. source: assam tribune
