Powerful blast at Kumarikata: 5 dead, 50 injured

Altogether five people died and more than forty injured in lower Assam’s Baska district when suspected ULFA militants made a powerful strike at the Kumarikata weekly market on Sunday with a blast. According to information, the blast took pace at around 1-30 afternoon and the bomb was stripped at a bicycle which let off immediately after the militants who planted it escaped unhurt.Four persons in the market teeming with hundreds of people died on the spot while more than fifty others have been left injured. A seriously injured person died on the way to the Guwahati medical College Hospital. Twenty three injured people have been admitted in the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Eight of these people have been struggling for life.No out fit has not so claimed the responsibility and police have been remaining clueless but the involvement of ULFA cannot be denied as the entire area is known to be area of operation of ULFA’s 709th battalion.
