Meet remembers veteran scribe

From Our Correspondent SILCHAR, June 30 – The contributions of veteran journalist Rabijit Choudhury were remembered at a function organised at the Gandhi Bhawan here in association with the Rabijit Choudhury Memorial Committee. A similar function was also organised at the Silchar Press Club on June 26.The Vice-Chancellor of Assam University Professor Tapodhir Bhattacharjee recounted his experiences with the deceased, who served as special representative of The Statesman from Guwahati. Professor Bhattacharjee claimed that Rabijit Choudhury spent a sizeable part of his time with tribal people in order to understand their actual condition.Attending the function as chief guest, MLA Bithika Dev termed the deceased as an ‘ambassador’ of Barak Valley. Along with Amit Nag, he represented Barak Valley in entire Assam, the legislator claimed. His contributions will forever be cherished by the local people, she added.
